Behind the Scenes of the You Make Me Feel So Good Music Video

Behind the Scenes of the You Make Me Feel So Good Music Video

After the last Xavier Toscano video we produced which was featured incredible laser banding technology, we knew we had to do something unique again. Going with the concept of future/retro disco, we decided to rent a 24 x 24 foot programmable LED dance floor. Benjamin Jones created synced projections and floor videos that were synced […]

Behind the Scenes of The Remedy Music Video

Behind the Scenes of The Remedy Music Video

I was really excited to work with my old Kaura bandmate Adam LaBay who now runs @precisionlasers and has created what is known as “Laser Banding”. When shot on video at a certain shutter speed, parts of the laser become invisible to the camera and the result is an incredible look. We utilized this for […]

What We’ve Been Up To Lately

Its been a long time since we have provided any updates so I thought I would check in.   The past 4 years has been a blur of activity as we here at TBJ Productions have been so busy with music videos, commercials, event videography, branded content, you name it, we have been doing it.   The […]

Behind the Scenes of the NEX Band Commercial

Behind the Scenes of the NEX Band Commercial

Montreal based toy company Mighty Cast contacted us to film a commercial in downtown LA for their new tech product NEX Band, an interactive fashion bracelet that connects with your phone and all your social media.   For this production we oversaw casting, wardrobe, and location scouting in addition to the filming, editing , and post production graphics we typically do.   We wanted a lot of motion so we shot with a steadicam on the streets of LA.   The weather was great, and we got our epic shot atop a building at sunset.   You can see the video in our portfolio and here are some behind the scenes photos from the shoot:

Getting into the Holiday Spirit with Hailey Reese

We were excited to get a call from Hailey Reese’s management a few weeks ago as we had enjoyed producing a series of 3 behind the scenes videos for her in the summer.   She has just recorded a great version of “Santa Baby” and wanted to film a music video for it and have it shot and edited in less than 5 days.  It was a very tight schedule with only a 4 hour shoot but we pulled it off!   We shot the video up in the Hollywood Hills and on Hollywood Blvd.   Two little people actors, Eric and Lena were hired and they were a pleasure to work with.   A Santa’s Village was erected quickly and we were able to get the last shot finished right before the sun dropped over the horizon.   As always Hailey was a complete pro and the shoot went very smoothly despite the fast shooting pace.

We just finished the edit, and with a little fake snow added in post production, the Hollywood Hills were turned into Santa’s Village.   You can view the music video by clicking here.

Music Video-Hip Hop From Across the Globe

When we got the call from Ash Niaki’s management that the 15 year old hip hop phenom from Tehran, Iran was going to be in LA and wanted to shoot a music video we were excited.  However, we only had 48 hours to gather crew, studio, and put together a concept.  Thanks to Malcolm Guess, […]

Behind the Scenes with Hailey Reese

We had the pleasure of producing 3 behind the scenes video vignettes for pop singer Hailey Reese, a Toronto native.   Our intention was that each video would have its own unique look and focus.   This was achieved through using different cameras as well as the coloring of the video during editing.   We […]

Tarfest-2012

We spent this past Saturday at the La Brea Tar Pits covering the 10th Annual Tarfest for sponsors Jakprints.   The weather was scorching for the first part of the day but luckily some cloud cover came in and everybody was able to enjoy the day’s festivities which included some awesome live bands including Blondfire, […]

Sunset Strip Music Festival 2012

16,000 people braved the 98 degree weather to see Marilyn Manson, Bad Religion, the Offspring, Steve Aoki, Black Label Socity, De La Soul and a host of other bands.   I was excited to finally do some work for my friend Dameon Guess who owns Jakprints, one the of the largest merchandising and printing companies in America.   They  were a sponsor of this years Sunset Music Festival and wanted to document the festival so asked me to make a video for them.  I spent the day in the sun and had a great time, I got to snap some photos and video from the pit area and really enjoyed watching Wallpaper and our friends Street Drum Corps. throw down at the Roxy. I got to meet a lot of great people including the founder and Roxy owber Nick Adler and actor David Faustino from Married with Children who was there promoting his hip hop label. I got to see Nick and his legendary father Lou (who can often be seen sitting courtside at Lakers games next to Jack Nicholson) hanging out under the Roxy sign which was a quintessential LA moment.
The heat didn’t stop people from coming and having a good time and lucky we were able to escape some of the masses with VIP passes which was nice. Steve Aoki played a high energy set and they brought out a 300 pound birthday cake for him which he jumped into and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker joined him for a few songs. By the time Marilyn Manson came onstage, I was beat from being on my feet all day filming, but the crowd was enthused but I felt like the performance the band gave was hollow and did not live up to some of the bands early shows that I got to see when I was much younger. I did enjoy the spectacle and had a great time editing the video. You can watch the video HERE.  Jakprints is opening a West Coast branch so I am looking forward to shooting more events for them including Tarfest at the La Brea tarpits on Sept 22nd. Over and out!
