Trouble in Paradise – Thailand’s Full Moon Party

The world famous Full Moon Party held every month on the island of Koh Phangan in Thailand is notorious for being one of the largest parties in the world. Dancers rage until the dawn when the morning lights reveals a beach covered in bottles, cans, and straws, and other garbage, much of which becoming swept into the ocean. As travelers who love Thailand, dance music, and the environment, we set out to explore the reasons why this beautiful beach was being trashed. We spoke to local business owners, party goers past and present, and members of the Green Cross Beach Clean who have attempted to clean up after the party.
